Looking From Within (A Primer on Trafficking in Persons in the Philippines)
Trafficking is now recognized as a rapidly accelerating global problem with high incidence of exploitation among women and children. Next to drugs, money, and arms, human trafficking is a very lucrative and profitable business. Because it is set to exploit one's vulnerability, trafficking as a crime is considered as the highest form of violation of human rights, especially children's rights.
This primer is Visayan Forum's contribution to the growing enthusiasm of different stakeholders to curb the problem of trafficking in the country. This primer illustrates the importance of understanding the trafficking dimensions within the country, its routes, and ways, and the existing responses to the problem.
