Visayan Forum sustained an online campaign to mobilize local in-kind donations. Institutions, students and individuals
responded with the provision of grocery packs. Local response raised enough emergency aid to cover the needs and
operations in the affected communities initially identified by Visayan Forum. From October 8 to 11, 2009, VF in coordination
with local partner organizations and local government officials distributed relief goods to 1’800 families in Isla Puting Bato,
Paco, Pandacan, Maybunga and Balayan. During the same time, VF distributed school supplies to 1’000 affected school children
in Paco and Pandacan. With the help of local doctors and nurses, VF also conducted medical missions for 1’600 families
in Pandacan/ Paco and Isla Puting Bato.
