After the much – awaited Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight hit the airwaves last May 3, 2015, CNN International will hold encore screening of a film on Human Trafficking entitled “The Fighters” featuring Manny Pacquiao and a world-renowned anti-slavery organization, the Visayan Forum.

For 2 years, CNN followed the journey of globally celebrated human rights activist Cecilia Flores-Oebanda, a Filipino pride herself, and her determination to protect women and children, and convince the Philippines’ biggest star, Manny Pacquiao, to join her as an active fighter in the battle against modern slavery.

In 2014, Walk Free, a global anti-slavery organization estimates that over 250,000 Filipinos are enslaved. Since founding Visayan Forum, in 1991, Cecilia has rescued more than 17,000 victims or potential victims of human trafficking. She believes if Pacquiao, a congressman in the Philippines and the country’s biggest star, champions her cause, it could mean a turning point.

Since its debut on May 17, 2013, “The Fighters” has propelled massive support and engagement in the fight against human trafficking all over the world. It has inspired the formation of a national youth movement to end human trafficking and modern slavery called The iFIGHT Movement, which has reached out to over 40,000 youth in over 80 schools and communities across the Philippines. It has gained champions among local government and faith-based organizations, with the institutionalization of the program in several cities and municipalities including Antipolo City, pioneered by Mayor Junjun Ynares III. Moreover, it has enlisted celebrity ambassadors such as Philippine’s Pop Rock Princess Yeng Constantino, TV Host and Models Tricia Centenera – Valenciano and Lani Pillinger. iFIGHT has also begun expanding to other countries such as Australia and the United States.

“The Fighters is a remarkable film that represents the very core of the CNN Freedom Project, namely a desire to shine a spotlight into the darkness of human trafficking and to champion those who have dedicated their lives to ending it,” said Tony Maddox, executive vice president and managing director for CNN International. “This documentary also represents a formidable journalistic achievement, the culmination of more than two years of tenacious, tireless reporting. I salute those who have brought it to our screens and, with it, discussion on this critical issue into millions of homes around the world,” he added.

Airing on CNN International on May 1 and 2, 2015, the Fighters provides a unique glimpse into the world of combating human trafficking through the eyes of those risking their lives so that others may live theirs in freedom. The film is produced and narrated by Leif Coorlim, executive editor of the CNN Freedom Project.

The Fighters will be aired on June 1 and 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM CET and 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM HKT.
