Today, more than 100,000 children from the Philippines have been deceived and taken from their homes. Sold into prostitution, cybersex trafficking and slavery.
Retchel (one of the girls in the photos) was rescued by Visayan Forum when she was 17. She had been working as a domestic helper in Manila, from the age of 11 and experienced abuse at the hands of her employers. Now she lives at the Centre of Hope (the shelter operated by Visayan Forum), she is in second year college, taking Business Administration. She is one of our leading iFIGHT advocates – involved in equipping, training and empowering the youth around the Philippines to take up the fight against trafficking.
For over 22 years, we at Visayan Forum have been innovating solutions to end human trafficking and modern slavery. But we are now encountering a new challenge, one of the ugliest forms of slavery: cybersex trafficking. Young girls and boys, as young as 6 months are forced to endure sexual acts and required to perform for viewers all over the world. The Philippines is a global hotspot for cybersex trafficking.
Help us save more women and children, to restore their freedom and childhood and prevent others from being victimized. You can help us protect and empower people to explore opportunities without the risk of exploitation and slavery.
WE NEED YOU.
By giving any donation from $10 up to $10,000, you can help save Filipino children from human trafficking and domestic servitude.
These donations will allow Visayan Forum to:
- Rescue, healtrauma, provide shelter, to educate and provide sustainable skills training to women and girls who are victims of human trafficking;
- Equip, train and empower the youth to end human trafficking and modern slavery through the iFight movement in partnership with schools, churches and communities;
- Develop a network of community watch groups and livelihood opportunities for parents, to prevent human trafficking in the source communities; and
- Conduct solution-based research and engage in policy reforms.
“Every day, hundreds of Filipino children are victimized by traffickers. YOU can help us save them. Filipinos have dignity, we are not for sale.” - Cecilia Flores-Oebanda (Founder and President, VF)
