The fight for the adoption of an International Convention on Decent Work for Domestic Workers gains momentum as trade unions, non-government organizations, faith-based groups, and organizations of domestic workers join hands in calling for the strongest form of legal protection for all domestic workers.

The Philippines still remains in Tier 2 Watch list for two consecutive years, making the country vulnerable to sanctions by next year if the situation does not improve. Despite rampant labor trafficking, no conviction has yet been made since an anti-trafficking law was passed in 2003.

Haven for victims of trafficking inaugurated
VFF and the Angelo King Foundation constructed a building that would serve as a safe haven for human trafficking survivors. Called the Center of Hope and situated in Antipolo City, the facility will serve as a safe refuge for rescued victims where they can find help in recuperating from trauma as they pursue their cases. The center will also provide life-skills training for the victims' reintegration back into society....more
