Consultation with Transport Groups (September 2&3)

Visayan Forum and the Office of Transport Security of the Department of Transportation and Communication (OTS-DOTC) are set to hold a National Consultation and Planning with Transport Groups on Trafficking in Persons this September 2 to 3 at the G Hotel, Roxas Blvd.

The Consultation is expected to pave the way for new milestones in the War Against Trafficking campaign as it will mobilize bus, shipping and airline companies, and other auxilliary industries for concrete actions that will ensure safe migration for passengers.

Transport groups, government agencies, and NGOs have been invited to discuss the possibility of adopting a Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards Against Trafficking in Persons for the private sector.  The group is also expected to talk about the verification mechanisms for the Code of Conduct.

Participants will discuss how to set up detection, monitoring, and reporting system for possible cases of illegal recruitment and trafficking.  The group will plan advocacy and prevention measures.

This consultation is supported by the US Department of State through the USAID
