However, it still faces difficulties in the Senate and a looming deadline before the elections come May 2004. AS A STUDENT

1. Volunteer as part of your school's community extension services

  • For tutorials and values formation
  • For outreach services of NGOs
  • For updating websites and publications
  • For data basing and information management

2. Set up concrete advocacy activities in your own schools

  • Sponsor Kasambahay and child labor orientations for teachers and fellow students
  • Organize street drama presentations on the plight of domestic workers, which are usually showcased during advocacy campaigns
  • Sponsor art contests on the themes of child labor and child domestic work
  • Develop short films and multimedia presentations
  • Set up a forum on Batas Kasambahay in your own organizations

3. You may also be employers of child domestic workers in your homes

  • Influence your own family members to improve practices inside your home
  • Encourage your CDWs to enroll in formal or non-formal education

4. Conduct researches, write articles, and submit them to us!

5. Organize special day of fun for domestic workers in your schools' waiting area!

6. Write a letter to our legislators and policy-makers and to your local religious leaders.
