| CASE STORIES
"Japan"
Michelle Maridul and Janice Bolivar
Michelle and Janice are 16 and 17 years old respectively and both from Pagadian City. A certain Rosa Delos Reyes recruited them together with two girlfriends some time in March 2003. They were offered to work as an entertainer in Japan with a monthly salary of PhP 40,000.00 after they finish a two-week training in Manila.

However, they were not brought to Manila and instead, were taken to Cavite where the training was conducted. It was in Cavite where they found out that it would take 6 months to a year of training before they would be sent to Japan. Michelle and Janice found the dance training very difficult. In addition, they were forced to work in a Video and Karaoke Bar. Michelle and Janice decided to escape from the training center leaving Rezel and Clarice Rhea who were afraid of getting caught. Michelle and Janice found their way to the Port of Manila, where the security staff of the Sulpicio Shipping Company referred them to Visayan Forum's Bahay Silungan Sa Daungan. When they got there, they were able to talk to their parents in the province and reveal to them that Rezel and Clarice Rhea were left in the training center. This paved the way for the rescue of the other two. They filed a complaint against their recruiter and the agency at the office of the National Bureau of Investigation - Violence Against Women and Children Division. Their case was also coordinated with Women Lead for legal assistance. They were sent back to Pagadian while their presence in court is not yet required.
