"Estafa"

Carmina is 17 years old. Last March 2003 she bravely dialed the hotline numbers of Visayan Forum to seek help because her employers were physically abusing and gravely threatening her because of the huge telephone bill amounting to P63,000.00 she incurred due to her frequent calls to her friends and relatives. In coordination with CSWDO-Paranaque, VF Social Worker took custody of her. She is presently temporary sheltered and in the center she was provided counseling services and processing to provide her of emotional security given the grave threats she had been internalizing when she was with her employers. Twice, her case was heard in the barangay level but the employers were not satisfied so they filed an Estafa case against her this July 2003. Per recommendation she is to be discharged to her brother in Bulacan but she still be given legal and extra-judicial assistance on her case.
